| We are
currently in a bycicle trip that started in Paris, in the "place du Châtelet"
on 09/24/2000 heading to Cairo. We will ride across seven countries including France,
Italy, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, and eventually Egypt. The distance that we will
cpver is approximately 8000 kilometers or 5000 miles. We hope to complete our travel on
April 2001.
This is not our first trip. We did a couple of them. The more important one took place
between Quito in Ecuador to Manaos in Brazil. We covered approximately 6000 kilometers or
4000 miles across five countries including Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela and part of the
Brazilian Amazonian rainforest.
Our objective was and still is the seek for contact with other cultures, other populations
and the discovery of new landscapes. We still wish to travel the world on our bicycles,
seeking new adventures and experiences. Once more, we are running into the unknown
and we try to discover the world.
GOALS OF THE TRIP
THE ERA
It is important for us to demonstrate that in this era of crisis in many respects, there
are teenagers willing to live and to know the world. Also that there are people who love
life and willing to seek the other.
ENVIRONMENTAL GOAL
We are concerned by the dangers generated by the bad treatment given to our planet. We
know the damages to the environment caused in our country, mostly through the
indiscriminated harvest of trees among other things. We would like to share our knowledge
with other people with the goal of generating or improving an international and solidary
consciousness in order to stop the damages.
CULTURAL EXCHANGE
We want to realize an exchange between our own culture and the cultures of the countries
we will cross. We also want to talk about the ethnical and cultural diversity of our
country. The goal of our trip is to improve life from what it currently is.
MONEY
We have 1000 got US dollars per person for the whole trip, including the cost of part of
our equipment, visas, the boat from Brindisi (Italy) to Athens, and for our daily needs
during nine months.
